Staffing Resources
Staffing resources, Inc. first came to Wabash County in 1997. It's training division, Project Out reach, won a contract with the Family and Social Services Administration to assist disadvantaged people find and keep jobs. Later in 1998, Project Outreach was awarded a contract by the Local Planning Council to survey county businesses to determine what in the area of training and job retention services were needed. When Project Outreach's contract ended earlier this year, SRI management felt their experience with Wabash County had sold them on both the people and the potential of the area. SRI decided to open a new employment office here.
Besides temporary and direct-hire services, Staffing Resources offers Payroll Services for those businesses which do not want to deal with the paperwork associated with this labor-intensive task. SRI also offers training programs such as Computer Basics, Secrets of Supervision, Mentoring, and Advanced Sales Presentations.
The staff of the local office is strong in both experience and local connections. Rick Moulton has been with SRI for more than four years. DeAnne Clifton is the Client Services Manager. Beverly Ferry is Area Sales Manager.
Staffing Resources is a unique employment service, with 24 hour access to staff members everyday including weekends and holidays. "Five years ago SRI was three people in a small office on a side street in Kokomo." said Rick Moulton, Wabash Office Manager. Small Business of the Year Banquet
June 10, 1999 will always be a special day for Friermood Tire and Alignment Inc. as over 110 people gathered in the Honeywell Room at the Honeywell Center to honor them as 1999 Small Business of the Year. Lynn Yohe representing last years honoree, Yohe Realty, presented the plaque to Guy and Scott Givens, co-owners of the business. Specialists in what they do and more importantly in CUSTOMER SERVICE, lessons could be learned by all from Guy's acceptance remarks. Echoing some of the same philosophies was the keynote speaker, Jeff Carney, a Kokomo businessperson , entrepreneur and developer. Carney took the audience on a trip through his young career emphasizing the entrepreneur spirit and fire that it takes to be a small business in this day and age. Committee members Skip Daughtry, Wayne Rees, Bob Vanlandingham, and Steve VanVoorhis did a great job in their selection process and organizing the awards banquet.

Crimestoppers
Wabash County Crimestoppers is alive and well. The local group has been quiet for the past year just going about their business. Traditionally, Crimestoppers does a major push for fund raising in July with a golf outing and auction. At this time, the financial condition of the local Crimestoppers chapter appears to be such that the normal drive will not be necessary. Virtually all funds raised by the organization stays right here in Wabash County paying on tips received on local crimes. Recently the activity has been quiet. The local group has appreciated support received from the business community in the past and will need assistance again in the future when additional funds are needed for paying tips.

Also, Trula Frank at the Convention and Visitors Bureau has just received a new shipment of the Indiana Travel Guide, Festival Guide, tour maps, and Play Money Discount Coupon books. They are all available in the lobby of our office. Stop by and pick up any that you are interested in.
